PURCHASING AND PRODUCTION ACTIVITY CONTROL
The flow of raw materials into the factory is established and controlled by purchasing. Its responsible for establishing and controlling the flow of raw material.
The master production schedule and the material specifications plan are executed by production activity control (PAC). It must also allow efficient use of labour and machines, reduce work-in-process inventory, and ensure customer service.
The material requirements plan authorises PAC: to release
work orders to the shop for manufacturing, to take care of work orders and make
sure they are delivered on time, to be responsible for the immediate thorough
preparation of the flow of orders through manufacturing, and to coordinate
day-to-day operations and provide the required support.
The PAC system's activities are divided into three
categories:
-
Planning
-
Implementation
-
Control
