By combining the average use for a scheduled replenishment lead time with the safety stock that is needed to protect against stock-outs, manufacturing resource planning determines the optimum order quantity and frequency for raw materials.
The aim of Manufacturing Resource Planning is to extend the capabilities of Material Resource Planning as far as possible.
MRP II is
used widely by itself, but it's also used as a module of more extensive
enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Manufacturing Resource Planning
